Obesity and its metabolic comorbidities affect over a million people in Switzerland. They are chronic and highly treatable, yet in everyday practice they are usually managed as an afterthought.
We're changing that.
Who we are
ViaSlim is Switzerland's first hybrid centre for obesity and metabolic medicine and an accredited obesity centre, with locations in Zurich, Basel-Binningen and Bern. Our focus is the guideline-based treatment of obesity and its metabolic and hormonal comorbidities: prediabetes and type 2 diabetes, dyslipidaemia, fatty liver disease, sleep apnoea, and endocrine disorders such as hypothyroidism, PCOS and hypogonadism. We understand these diseases as chronic and manage our patients according to a chronic care model: structured, data-driven, over years rather than single consultations. Physicians, nutrition counselling, psychologists and physiotherapists work interdisciplinarily on a shared treatment pathway that combines pharmacological therapy, nutritional medicine and behavioural therapy.
Your role: medical practice at our Basel-Binningen location
You look after our patients at the Basel-Binningen location in the combination that defines our model:
- On site in Binningen: Initial consultations, physical examinations, follow-ups and treatment decisions, embedded in a well-established on-site team.
- Telemedicine: Between practice appointments you look after your patients by video and via the platform: titration, side-effect management, lab reviews. You see the whole course rather than snapshots.
What you'll actually do
- Clinical practice Establishing indications, treatment decisions and managing progress along our treatment pathway.
- Hybrid consultations Practice days in Basel-Binningen, telemedicine consultations for care in between.
- Interdisciplinary collaboration Case discussions with physicians, nutrition counselling, psychologists and physiotherapists; medical point of contact for the Care Team.
- Quality and research Contributing to the further development of the treatment pathway and, if you're interested, to our real-world evidence research.
What you bring
- Specialist title in General Internal Medicine (FMH or recognised equivalent title) or resident physician in advanced specialist training; endocrinology/diabetology equally welcome
- Licence to practise in the canton of Basel-Landschaft, held or obtainable
- Solid experience in internal medicine and interest in obesity and metabolic medicine
- Affinity for digital medicine and telemedical care
- Clear, empathetic communication with people living with a stigmatised disease
- Enjoyment of helping shape structures in a growing company
- Fluent German and English
An advantage: French. Experience with GLP-1 therapies, diabetology, nutritional medicine or bariatric aftercare. Teaching or research experience.
What awaits you
- Focused medicine: treating one disease properly instead of twenty at fifteen-minute intervals
- Hybrid working model with practice days in Binningen and flexible telemedicine days
- Relief from administration: scheduling, billing and logistics are handled by the Care Team and the platform
- Multidisciplinary team across three locations with case discussions and peer exchange
- Training accreditation in General Internal Medicine, category C: you can complete your specialist training with us or get involved as a trainer
- Development perspectives: site lead Basel, research and CME events for referring physicians
- Contemporary employment terms at 60 to 100%, performance-based remuneration and structured clinical onboarding
